In this free video guitar lesson we will continue with our “Lick Of The Week” series with a cool country guitar lick that uses open strings along with fretted notes, hammer-ons, pull-offs and slides to create a mesmerizing flurry of notes.
This technique is used constantly in the guitar styles of great players like Albert Lee, Brad Paisley, Brent Mason, Chet Atkins, James Burton and Roy Buchanan.
With this lesson you will learn how this technique is used and hopefully learn how to write your own cascading country guitar lines as well.

Face it–we love to play in E minor and so does your guitar. With a 22 fret neck there’s E’s abound ranging from the open low E string for raucous riffing all the way up to the screaming whole step bend from D to E on the first string at the neck’s highest fret. This lick ends end with that climatic string stretcher, but not before it scrambles through some single string ascending three-note patterns at blazing speed.

Here’s NEW updated version of an original blues influenced by the sound of Jerry Reed’s music. It is a 32 bar tune, not a pure 12 bar blues! Add a little Count Basie to the mix….
