Have you ever watched great guitarists such as Slash of Gun ‘n Roses or Jimi Hendix play their guitars? If you have not then do yourself a favour. Search Youtube for their videos and watch how they play their guitars. Just by watching these great rock guitarists you should be able to pick up some really good tips and techniques.
· Maybe you are already familiar with these great artists. If you are then you are on the right track. Would you like to be as good as them? Here are a few guitar playing tips to help you along.
· Work at a slow pace Learn your piece well. It is not about bragging how many pieces you can play. It is about the quality of the piece you are able to play. Your playing will sound much better if you hit all the correct notes. Focus on each note and scale of your piece. Playing like a pro does not happen overnight. You need practice. Lots of practice.
· Play with intense passion Your music must be soulful.
You might try all the best tricks in the box but if your music lacks passion then you are wasting your time.
· Jam with other people. You will be surprised at how much you will learn from one another. What a bonus. Enjoy yourself and pick up a few tricks in the process.
· Take Online Lessons Having a teacher looking over your shoulders might be a good idea for some people but not for others. If you are the type that like learning on your own, then online guitar instruction is a good idea. One good thing about online tuition is the fact that you are answerable to no one but yourself.
· Playing by ear. This will help you to develop a musical ear. Listen to a song and then practice it on your guitar. Try it, you will be pleasantly surprised.
· Watch videos and listen to audio from the best guitarists. Are you aware that Eric Clapton leant his art by listening to audio tracks of BB King and Robert Johnson. Why not emulate them. Listen or watch guys like Slash or Jimi Hendrix. You would definitely want to play some of their compositions. Above all they will inspire you.

Zakk Wylde (born Jeffrey Phillip Wiedlandt on January 14, 1967 in Bayonne, New Jersey) is a lead guitarist, pianist, singer and songwriter, best known for his role as founder of Black Label Society and guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne. Wylde was lead guitarist and vocalist in Pride & Glory, who released one self-titled album in 1994 before disbanding. As a solo artist he released the critically acclaimed Book of Shadows in 1996. Wylde’s playing is characterised by his liberal use of pinch harmonics and the pentatonic scale.
Randall William “Randy” Rhoads (December 6, 1956 — March 19, 1982) was an American heavy metal guitarist who is best known for playing with Ozzy Osbourne. Despite his short career, he is cited as an influence by many contemporary heavy metal guitarists. His unique neo-classical metal style of playing set him apart from other guitarists of the late 1970s and early 1980s. He was a devoted student of classical guitar technique, and his music often combined classical music influences with heavy metal. While on tour with Ozzy Osbourne, he would often seek out classical guitar tutors for lessons.
