aw . i like to play fast cos i like to … notting else … just want to improve my tech part abit
once again thx kungfu :D

I would take a jazz lesson or classical instead……That will help you develop more of a style for improv…..and writing. All i do is just sit down and improv all the time…I never really took any lessons…so im not good at getting lessons advice except…..If you already know the basics….. Learn from yourself…and develop your own style. If you have natural talent this should not be a problem…..Don’t just play guitar to learn other peoples style and music…Be yourself.

So plz help me i might want to have a career on it
btw i’m young

HELP

-Smiley =D

You dont need to go to college to study bass, I suggest you go to guitar center and just buy a basic music theory book and learn all of the scales and learn music theory which will take you about 2-6 months if you study everyday for about 2-3 hours. Now about playing you learn some of your favorite bands songs and you will see how those songs are created because you learned theory and you can take those songs and make similar songs or make your own style using scales and keys and just join a band as a bassist you don’t need to be good to be in a band at first but you will surly progress… and btw you have flea in your list i would like you to cheack out the two following bassisngs from the following bands, you will probably love them

Primus (a band accosiated around a bassist)
Rancid

How do I play rock guitar?

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

Dont give me some stupid answer like, "lessons from a pro" first off I aint got no money, give me a useful answer that will actully help me.

So you want to be a rock & roll star
Well listen now to what I say
Just get an electric guitar
And take some time and learn how to play

And when if your hairs are right
And your pants are tight It’s gonna be all right
(It’s gonna be all right)

Well is time to go downtown
To the agent man he won’t let you down
Sell your soul to the company
They’re all waiting there To sell plastic wares
And in a week or two if you make the charts
The girls will tear you apart

What you pay for these riches and fame
Well it’s all a vicious game You’re a little insane
What you get is the public acclaim
Don’t forget who you are You’re a rock & roll star

Na na na na na…

What type of guitar lessons should I get?

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

The place where I’m learning to play acoustic guitar offers two styles. Rock/pop/jazz and classical. Which should I take? I’ve never played guitar but I’ve been playing piano for five years now, if that makes a difference. Also, what’s an example of a classical song for the guitar and what’s an example of a rock, pop, or jazz song for the guitar?

Rock pop and jazz you will probably learn more chords and things. It would be good if you want to play actual songs that you know. My father plays classical guitar and I find all the songs that he plays very beautiful, but he often tells me how frustrated he gets playing for people when they say "why don’t you play a song that we know?". He started teaching me a few months ago, I don’t know what style it would be considered. I only know how to play the song Horizons by genesis, blackbird by the beatles, and some classical song called La Grima. I just learned from copying what he did, thats how I learned to play classical piano as well. I realize that not everyone can learn that way though.
If I were you I would go classical because I bet somebody with a foundation in classical will be able to pick up on rock pop and jazz songs easily, but not the othe way around.

What are some inspiring rocks songs for a learning acoustic guitar player?

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

I have started taking acoustic guitar lessons with a friend and would like to hear your opinion on songs to listen to for inspiration, and to become more familiar with the general style. I have pretty wide ranged tastes in music, but I am aiming for classical to modern rock.

Songs I learned while learning Guitar:

Hold my Hand – Hootie and the blowfish
(I’m the one who wants to) Be with you – Mr Big
Tears in heaven – Clapton
Lightning Crashes – Live
Breakfast at Tiffany’s – ???
Wicked Game – Chris Isaac
Low – Cracker
Wounded hand – Stone Temple Pilots
Black – Pearl Jam

A lot of old U2 and REM stuff is very easy. U2 tends to ride a chord progression through the whole song, REM creatively uses secondary dominants and major minors.

Where can I find a DvD set to teach me the advanced levels of rock, heavy, and metal guitar?

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

I’ve been playing for about 5 years now. I’ve played a little bit of everything. I only took one lesson, I learned how to read music when I was 9ish. So learning the guitar and playing had been fun and I’m learning alot just from listening and practicing. BUT: I want to learn all about guitar and techniques that I can’t pick up on my own. Thanks.

you can go to a music store and ask them and i’m pretty sure they would be glad to help

What are some good rock songs to play on electric guitar?

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

I just got an electric guitar and started taking lessons. I started to think when I can play well, what rock songs should I play. I like Avril Lavigne, and a lot of people do. I think I should play other songs too that are rock.

Honestly, the beginning of "Sweet Child of Mine" by Guns n Roses would be a good thing to practice :)

What are some easy popular rock songs for guitar?

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

Can someone suggest a song that’s easy and popular to play on guitar so I can bring it with me to my lessons? Please don’t suggest Pink Floyd, Guns ‘N Roses, or any other classic rock bands. Some songs I have worked on are
Shut Me Up -Mindless Self Indulgence
Dammit – Blink 182
Hey There Delilah – Plain White T’s

If I don’t bring in a song, my teacher will just lecture me about something irrelavent to guitar and my parents pay for that! I’m sick of going to my guitar lessons and not learning anything.
=( I can’t go to anyone else because no one else is around and I don’t know anyone else experienced in guitar.
So can someone please help me out? Thanks!

I can suggest millions of songs. But I suggest something else. I suggest you stop getting lessons and teach yourself at your own pace. You will get further, faster, and without the hassle. I’ve heard that lessons don’t help at all and it just puts pressure on you and will make you want to give up. Ahh whatever…I can go on with this all day…
